Interstate 49 work starts Wednesday

BENTONVILLE -- Construction work on Interstate 49 in Bentonville and Rogers requires nighttime lane closings beginning Wednesday.

Crews will be placing final striping and pavement markings on I-49, weather permitting, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation officials. North and south lanes will alternately be closed between Southeast Walton Boulevard/West Walnut Street, Exit 85, and Central Avenue, Exit 88.

These closings will occur between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Wednesday through June 29.

The project is part of the department's Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening more than 3 miles of I-49 to three lanes in each direction. Construction is expected to be completed later this year.
