Stereo purchase turns into holdup

Two men told police they were robbed Monday afternoon while meeting with someone to buy stereo equipment near Little Rock's airport.

The robbery happened around 2:15 p.m. in the 2600 block of East Roosevelt Road, which is just west of Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport/Adams Field, according to a report from the city's Police Department.

Two Benton residents -- a 35-year-old and a 33-year-old -- told officers they had traveled to the address to meet with someone about buying car stereo equipment.

While there, the robber asked one of the victims if he had any money before displaying a black semi-automatic handgun and taking $340 from the men.

NLR man arrested in assault, robbery

After a woman tried to flee her gun-wielding boyfriend Monday, he threatened to throw her into Interstate 40 traffic in North Little Rock and grabbed cash from her bra, police said.

Joe Mitchell, 34, of North Little Rock faces charges of first-degree terroristic threatening, first-degree false imprisonment, aggravated robbery and third-degree assault, records show.

The 34-year-old woman said Mitchell, who was sitting in the front passenger seat of a blue GMC Yukon, pulled a black handgun from his waistband and told her that he would shoot her if she stopped driving while on I-40 near the Springhill Drive exit.

When the vehicle ran out of gas, the woman got out of the vehicle and ran, at which point Mitchell chased after her, according to a report from the Arkansas State Police.

He remained in the Pulaski County jail Tuesday.
