BENTONVILLE — A Springdale man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after admitting to sexually assaulting two girls.

Devon Shane Westbrook, 23, pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of sexual assault. He was originally charged with one count of rape, but the charge was reduced to sexual assault in exchange for his guilty plea. Tyler Williams, deputy prosecutor, reached the agreement with Lee Warden, Westbrook’s attorney.

Springdale police interviewed a 14-year-old girl in July 2017 who told police she was given alcohol at a party and Westbrook forced her onto a mattress and raped her, according to court documents.

The teen said she told Westbrook no and yelled for her friends, but Westbrook struck her in the face twice and she blacked out, according to the probably cause affidavit.

A 13-year-old girl, who also attended the party, told police she was given marijuana and alcohol and fell asleep in an upstairs bedroom, according to court documents. The girl said she was awakened by someone moving her to the bed and the person began touching her inappropriately, according to the affidavit.

Witnesses reported going into the bedroom and seeing Westbrook fondling the girl, according to court documents.

Westbrook was arrested Sept. 25.

Circuit Judge Brad Karren accepted the plea agreement and Westbrook’s guilty plea.

Westbrook will be required to register as a sex offender. He was ordered not to have unsupervised contact with any minors.
