A 54-year-old man was killed and two women were injured in a two-vehicle wreck Tuesday on Interstate 30, state police said. The crash occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. near Prescott in Nevada County.

Kevin Runnels of Hooks, Texas, was driving a 2006 Acura west on the interstate when he hit a 2015 Ford while trying to change lanes, a preliminary report states. He reportedly lost control of his vehicle, which then hit a median, rolled and struck several trees before coming to a rest on its driver's side.

Runnels was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later, the report states.

Listed as injured were two passengers in the Acura: 22-year-old Tabitha Runnels and 42-year-old Kimberly Runnels, both of Hooks, Texas.

State police said the weather was cloudy and the road was clear at the time of the crash. At least 234 people have died in wrecks on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary data.
