Bike club to roll, camp around Lake Ouachita

The Arkansas Bicycle Club has changed the start of its annual Lake Ouachita 3 Day Tour this weekend to avoid heavy rain.

The self-support bicycle campers will ride out at 9:30 a.m. Sunday from the Hot Springs Convention Center lot at 134 Convention Blvd. in Hot Springs. The tour goes counterclockwise around Lake Ouachita. Sunday night they'll camp on the north side of the lake at the Iron Fork Recreation and Camping Area. After the riders pass through Mount Ida on Monday, they'll camp at Crystal Springs Recreation Area.

All are welcome, but a club membership is required, and it costs $15 for one year; a two-year membership is $29.

Participants can register online at arkansasbicycleclub.com or in person Sunday.

The touring doesn't stop after this weekend. The club is preparing for a six- or seven-day ride in April. Contact Jim Britt at [email protected] or call (501) 912-1449 for more information.

Little Rock Marathon

The time has wound down to the 16th annual Little Rock Marathon, including its half marathon, 10K, 5K and Little Rockers Kids Marathon this weekend.

With an eight-hour time limit, the marathon is a race for every pace. Events kick off Friday with a free Health & Fitness Expo at the Statehouse Convention Center in downtown Little Rock. Pick up packets, shop for athletic clothes and gear and learn about other races and organizations.

The expo will be runners' last chance to register for events that have not sold out, as online registration closed Friday. Any spots left will be an extra $20 to $40, depending on the event.
