Impassable roads shut Pulaski County district's schools again

Pulaski County Special School District schools will be closed today, for the second consecutive day, because of flooding and impassable roads throughout the far-flung 640-square-mile rural school system.

Deborah Roush, a spokesman for the district, said late Thursday afternoon that district leaders had monitored the weather and road conditions throughout the day and concluded that late afternoon showers falling on already-saturated ground made school closures necessary.

Students are directed to complete Day 4 of their lessons that have been preplanned for times when schools are closed because of inclement weather or widespread illness. The only exception to that is Sylvan Hills High School. Students at that school are to complete Alternative Methods of Instruction of AMI Day 5 lessons.
