2 deputies, 1 other hurt in auto crash

Two deputies were injured in a vehicle crash in Saline County that also resulted in another person being flown to the hospital, the sheriff's office said.

The wreck happened around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at Styles and North Sardis roads, which is in the Mabelvale area south of Little Rock, Lt. Jeff Silk of the Saline County sheriff's office said.

Injuries to the two deputies, who were taken by ambulance to a hospital, were not considered life-threatening. They were traveling in the same patrol vehicle.

A spokesman for the sheriff's office said the crash was not the result of a pursuit, adding that the patrol vehicle did not have its lights or sirens on at the time of the wreck.

One of the deputies was released from the hospital Wednesday, according to the spokesman. The other had to undergo surgery Thursday but was doing well that evening, and the sheriff's office expected the deputy to be released today.

The third person was in stable condition Wednesday evening.
