Trees focus of Back 40 trek

A guided tree identification hike on the Back 40 trails in Bella Vista will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Cris and Eleanor Jones, Northwest Arkansas master naturalists, will lead the hike. Hikers will learn to identify trees in their dormant winter state.

All hikers are welcome. The hike is from Bedford Lane crossing to the Lake Ann Trailhead. Distance is 2.25 miles, rated moderate.

Richland Creek cleanup set

The Beaver Watershed Alliance seeks volunteers for a cleanup of Richland Creek in the Goshen area from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday

Meet at the Goshen community building. Gloves, trash bags and water are provided. Lunch will be served to volunteers at noon.

Water quality proposal discussed

The Beaver Watershed Alliance will host a water quality program from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 22 at Arvest Ballpark community room in Springdale.

Allan Gates, an environmental attorney, will speak about a proposed nutrient water quality trading regulation that could affect state water quality.

Beast Feast features expo, barbecue

Crioss Church will hold a Beast Feast NWA outdoor expo March 10 at the church, 1719 Johnson Road, in Springdale.

The expo features vendor booths and exhibits, Daisy air rifle range and a barbecue dinner. Cost is $20.

Doors open at 4 p.m. The meal is at 6 p.m. Guest speaker is Jeff Danker with Buck Ventures.
