Springdale man arrested after Fayetteville shooting incident

FAYETTEVILLE -- Police arrested Daniel Rodriguez, 18, of Springdale in connection with shooting a man Wednesday night.

Officers were called around 11 p.m. to Washington Regional Medical Center after a man showed up with a gunshot wound. The man, whose name police haven't released, had a wound to his abdomen, according to a preliminary arrest report.

The injury isn't life-threatening, according to a police news release.

Rodriguez was trading marijuana for the man's pistol, but he took the pistol and ran, driving away. The man chased him and tried to get his gun back, but Rodriguez shot him, according to the report.

Police arrested Rodriguez on Thursday afternoon in connection with first-degree battery and possession of a controlled substance.
