It's Slaw Good

Be the hit of the barbecue with a cool and crunchy side

Mango Cilantro Slaw

Ingredients

3 tablespoons white wine vinegar

2 tablespoons canola oil

2 tablespoons honey

2 tablespoons mayonnaise

1/2 teaspoon celery seed (optional)

1/2 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 (10 ounce) package finely shredded cabbage

1 firm, ripe mango - peeled, seeded, and cut into 1/2-inch pieces

1/3 cup chopped cilantro

3 green onions, chopped

Directions

1. Whisk vinegar, oil, honey, mayonnaise, celery seed, poppy seeds, salt, and black pepper together in a bowl until smooth and creamy. Add cabbage, mango, cilantro, and green onions; toss until well-combined. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate until flavors blend, about 1 hour.

Nana's Southern Coleslaw

Ingredients

1 head cabbage, finely shredded

2 carrots, finely chopped

2 tablespoons finely chopped onion

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1/3 cup white sugar

1/4 cup milk

1/4 cup buttermilk

2 tablespoons lemon juice

2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions

1 Mix cabbage, carrots, and onion in a large salad bowl. Whisk mayonnaise, sugar, milk, buttermilk, lemon juice, vinegar, salt, and black pepper in a separate bowl until smooth and the sugar has dissolved.

2 Pour dressing over cabbage mixture and mix thoroughly. Cover bowl and refrigerate slaw at least 2 hours (the longer the better). Mix again before serving.

Ramen Slaw

Ingredients

1 (12 ounce) package broccoli coleslaw mix

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

1/2 cup slivered almonds

1 (3 ounce) package Oriental-flavored ramen noodles, broken into small pieces

1/2 cup canola oil

1/4 cup white sugar

1/4 cup white wine vinegar

4 green onions, chopped

Directions

1 Combine broccoli coleslaw mix, sunflower seeds, almonds, and ramen noodles together in a bowl. Whisk canola oil, sugar, ramen noodle seasoning packet, and vinegar together in a separate bowl; pour over slaw mixture. Fold in green onions. Chill in refrigerator for 1 1/2 hours before serving.
