Kendall seeks re-election to Rogers council

ROGERS -- Alderman Clay Kendall has filed for re-election for Position 1 in Ward 3, which represents the southwest area of the city.

Kendall grew up in Rogers and earned a degree in accounting from the University of Arkansas in 1998. He and a few partners started AdvisorAlliance, a financial advising firm in 2006. Kendall and two partners left to create WealthPath Investment Advisors in 2011.

"I'm a self-employed business owner with very deep roots in this area. I have no intentions of going anywhere, this is the community I love to serve," Kendall said.

Kendall was appointed to the council in June 2012 after Alderman Larry Daniel died. If he is re-elected in November, he said issues of infrastructure and growing development will remain a priority. As of this morning, he had no announced opponent.

More and more people are moving to Northwest Arkansas, and it is important for Rogers to be seen as an attractive place to live, he said.

"We have a lot of talent coming to this area, so it is important we don't fall behind," he said. "All of Northwest Arkansas has been blessed with phenomenal resources, so we need to continue our good leadership and planning for growth in Rogers."

Kendall said he also wants to keep the city's downtown area as a focus for the council.

"It's an area that is always getting better, especially with upcoming development to Frisco Park," he said. "We have to make sure we are addressing traffic concerns and properly planning for development."

The city's police and fire departments are top rated, and Kendall said he wants to work to continue that.

"We have to make sure we will have the resources to continue to let these departments grow to keep our citizens safe," he said.

Kendall has served on the board of Youth Strategies, an organization that works with at-risk youth in Northwest Arkansas, for the last five years.

City council terms last for four years and pay an annual salary of $9,511.

Aug. 17 is the last day file for municipal office,t and the nonpartisan election will be held Nov. 6.
