Highlands Oncology Group to open second Washington County facility

SPRINGDALE -- Highlands Oncology Group announced Thursday plans to build a second location in Springdale, according to a press release.

The group is currently under contract to purchase an 8-acre piece of land in the Parkway Plaza development off the Don Tyson exit, according to the press release. Highlands expects to begin building fall 2018 and complete the project in 2020.

No details concerning the project were released.

"We have long ago outgrown our space at the Northhills clinic," Kathey Rhoads, chief operating officer for Highlands said. "The second location will also allow for future growth as the demand for cancer care services continues."

Highlands has other locations at 3232 N. Northhills Blvd. in Fayetteville and 808 S. 52nd St. in Rogers.

Highlands started with three medical oncologists in 1996 and has since grown to include 350 employees and an array of services in a comprehensive cancer center model, according to the press release.
