Hope Cancer Resources and Highlands Oncology Group offer a support group for patients affected by lymphedema. It meets from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Highlands Oncology Group in Rogers. This group is co-facilitated by lymphedema professionals and an oncology social worker.

Hill 'N Dale
Hill 'N Dale Hiking Club of Bella Vista will hike Thursday in the Ozark National Forest, northeast of Fort Smith. You may hike the White Rock Rim Loop Trail, 2.1 miles of easy to moderate, or the Shores Lake White Rock Loop West Side, six miles, rated hard.
Carpool departure will be at 7 a.m. from Lowe's in Bella Vista or meet at the trailhead at 9 a.m. Nonmembers are welcome.

Car Club
The Foothills of the Ozarks Antique Car Club will meet for a 6 p.m. dinner and 7 p.m. meeting Thursday at Western Sizzlin' in Springdale.
The club's Christmas party will be held on Dec. 7at Viney Grove Community Building. Make your reservations now with a $10 deposit. Only club members will get their deposits back. If bringing a guest, there is an additional $10 per person for the guest's meal. Deposits will not be returned for no-shows. Whirl-Aways
The Ark-Oma WhirlAways square dance club will host a dance beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Springdale Senior Center, 203 Park St. in Springdale, with Bob Loyd as the featured caller. Johnny Eubanks will be behind the microphone Nov. 17. There will be mainstream and plus level dancing with banners given to visiting clubs.

Master Gardeners
The Benton County Master Gardeners will meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 7 in the lodge at Bentonville Church of Christ. The program will be presented by guest speaker chef Steve Jenkins, Ph.D., director of culinary operations at Brightwater. Guests are welcome.

Garden Club
The Garden Club of Rogers will hold its monthly meeting at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 7 at the First Presbyterian Church, on the corner of New Hope Road and 26th Street. The program, "What makes a mammal a mammal," will be delivered by Alan Bland, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Bland has been a park ranger and natural resources specialist for the Army Corps of Engineers for 34 years and a Master Naturalist for eight years. He will test members' knowledge on native plants and wildlife.
There will be a horticulture report, drawings for plant of the month and a plant and magazine pass along. Lunch will be catered; reservations are required and must be in by Friday.

Women's Chorus
The Bella Vista Women's Chorus will present a Veterans Day concert beginning at 3 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Bella Vista Community Church. The chorus will be joined by the Bella Vista Men's Chorus, Perfect Harmony and the Bentonville High School Chamber Choir in honoring veterans in song.
The concert is a fundraiser for the National Cemetery in Fayetteville and the Veterans Wall of Honor in Bella Vista.

This supportive and educational group is for adult patients, caregivers, families and friends coping with leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, MDS or other blood cancers. The group meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at Hope Cancer Resources.

Naturalists
Northwest Arkansas Master Naturalists are now accepting applications for new members' annual training. Classes start Jan. 20 in Benton County; Jan. 24 for a new Carroll County class; and Jan. 27 for the Washington/Madison county class. Benton and Washington county classes usually meet on alternating Saturdays. Carroll County classes will meet on Wednesday evenings, with field time on Sunday afternoons. Cost is $135 for training and materials, plus $30 annual dues. Cost is $80 for an additional household member if materials are shared, plus annual dues. Limited scholarships are offered. In recent years, these classes have filled quickly.
Over 60 hours of instruction are given by experts in such areas as ecosystems of Arkansas, geology, watersheds, lake and stream ecology, mammals, herpetology, birds, astronomy, insects, frog and toad calls, wildflowers and tree identification. Participants must complete 40 or more hours of training for graduation, earning the title of Master Naturalist. Participants must complete 40 hours of volunteer time annually and attend eight hours of continuing education to be a certified Master Naturalist.
Arkansas Master Naturalists is a volunteer organization with opportunities for all ages and skill levels. Activities include helping with educational programs, leading nature hikes, water quality testing, removing invasive plants, planting native plants, as well as trail maintenance, to name just a few. The members volunteer in partnership with a number of environmental minded organizations and agencies, many of which are on limited budgets and rely on volunteer help.

Nov. 30 -- Marlon Blackwell, Welcome Health building architect. Blackwell is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and is a department head and distinguished professor at the University of Arkansas Fay Jones School of Architecture.
