'Fall Into Jazz'

The Goat Band -- Barry McVinney, Steve Hudleson, Brian Wolverton and Patrick Lindsey -- will play jazz and jazz-influenced music for "Fall Into Jazz," a benefit for the Arkansas Chamber Singers, 6:30 p.m. today at the Lobby Bar, 320 W. 'Prized Evening'

The Butler Center for Arkansas Studies will hand out two honors at "A Prized Evening," 6:30 p.m. today in the Darragh Center, Central Arkansas Library System Main Library, 100 Rock St., Little Rock:

• The Booker Worthen Literary Prize, to Kenneth C. Barnes for his book Anti-Catholicism in Arkansas: How Politicians, the Press, the Klan, and Religious Leaders Imagined an Enemy, 1910-1960

• The Porter Fund Literary Prize to University of Arkansas faculty member Padma Viswanathan for her body of work, including her debut novel, The Toss of a Lemon; two plays; and personal essays, cultural journalism and reviews.

History meets mystery

Paul Prater, North Little Rock-based vaudevillian, paranormal enthusiast and historian, will lead 90-minute history-meets-mystery walking tours around the downtown Argenta district, describing the area's history and including tales of ghosts, paranormal entities and bizarre events, 8-9:30 p.m. today-Saturday and Halloween night, with additional late-night tours (10-11:30 p.m.) Friday-Saturday. Lunar look

The Central Arkansas Astronomical Society, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock physics and astronomy department and the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub will set up telescopes to celebrate International Observe the Moon Night, 7 p.m. Friday at the Hub, 201 E. Patio on Park Hill

The Park Hill Business and Merchants Association will hold its sixth Patio on Park Hill event, noon-6 p.m. Saturday in the back parking lot of the Park Hill Elementary School, 3801 John F. Kennedy Blvd. at H Street, North Little Rock. The event will feature music in the beer garden, food trucks, beer, wine and margaritas, and local vendors and businesses. The North Little Rock History Commission will give tours of the original historic school building, built in 1923-24, slated for sale. The playground will also be open. Take lawn chairs and blankets; no coolers allowed. Dogs are welcome but must be licensed and on a leash no more than 6 feet long (and bring your own "poop bag.") Kris Allen at Beebe

American Idol winner Kris Allen will give a community concert, 7:30 p.m. Saturday beside the Science Building at Arkansas State University-Beebe, 1000 Iowa St., Beebe. Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged, but no outside food or drink. Admission is free but the university is suggesting you register at asub.ticketleap.com.

DeltaMade festival

Performers, artists, musicians and vendors born in or living in Arkansas' Delta Region will take part in the inaugural DeltaMade, a music and maker festival, 2-9 p.m. Saturday in front of the restaurant/clubhouse at Harbor Oaks Golf Club, Regional Park, 1 Harbor Oaks Drive, Pine Bluff. The event will include music by Sarah Cecil, Charlotte Taylor and Gypsy Rain, and headline act Big Piph and Tomorrow Maybe; plus food trucks; Arkansas craft beer from Lost 40 and Buffalo Brewing; performances by Arkansas Circus Arts, vaudevillian Paul Prater and the Pine Bluff Dance Academy; booths from independent businesses and nonprofits; a Parade of Paws (Pine Bluff Animal Shelter); a car show and baggo tournament (Kiwanis Club); inflatables (Pine Bluff Police Department); and a chicken-wing cook-off (Smoke on the Water Productions). Catfish Road Festival

North Little Rock Parks & Recreation is putting on the Catfish Road Festival, 2-7 p.m. Sunday at the Burns Park Soccer Complex, Hellman Drive and Soccer Avenue, in the park, Exit 150 off Interstate 40. The event will include music, bounce houses, face painting and food trucks. All proceeds go toward the expansion of the Burns Park One Heart Playground, built for children of all abilities. Concert au chocolat

The Conway Symphony Orchestra's "confectionery" concert, at 4 p.m. Sunday in Reynolds Performance Hall, University of Central Arkansas, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway, will include Symphonic Chocolates by Maxime Goulet and the Symphonie Fantastique by Hector Berlioz. Acansa Arts Festival and the Yarn Storytelling are partnering on the inaugural Ten-Minute Play Showcase, featuring short (10-minute) works written, directed and acted by Arkansans, March 1 at the University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock. Submissions are open to "experts and novices" through Dec. 15; a panel of artists will choose five for staging.
