Delaware County man charged with murder, assault

A Delaware County, Okla., man is accused of killing one man and injuring another by striking them with his vehicle in the parking lot of the Red Dirt Bar on Highway 412 in Oklahoma, on Saturday.

Warren Winningham, 40, was arrested on charges of second degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon, according to Jessica Brown, spokesperson for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Witnesses said that a confrontation broke out between patrons at the bar, Brown said. As a result, a vehicle driven by Winningham struck Bobby Shaffer Jr., 45, and Tristan Kauffeld, 21, she said.

Shaffer died from his injuries and and Kauffeld was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Brown said.

Winningham was released from the Delaware County Jail on Monday with a $110,000 bond, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Tuesday.
