• Little Rock is preparing a lawsuit against the nightclub where a man was killed in a shootout early Saturday, City Attorney Tom Carpenter said Monday. The lawsuit will allege that The Sandpiper Club at 4726 Asher Ave. is a nuisance, citing the weekend homicide and other reported crimes, Carpenter said. City Manager Bruce Moore said he will meet with Carpenter and Mayor Mark Stodola on Wednesday to discuss what measures the city will ask a judge to take. The city could ask for the club to make improvements or for it to be shut down, he said.
