WASHINGTON COUNTY

First United Methodist Church in Springdale, 206 W. Johnson Ave., hosts its second annual "Hanging of the Greens" at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. A meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center.

Elmdale Baptist Church in Springdale, 1700 W. Huntsville Ave., presents "Celebration of Light," a Christmas program, at 10:15 a.m. Dec. 10.

Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, 6 W. Dickson St., presents the Razorbones, the University of Arkansas trombone ensemble in "Carol of the Bones" at 5 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary. They will perform a recital of carols and holiday jingles. Admission is free.

The church presents "A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols" at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 am. Dec. 10 in the sanctuary. The church also plans a Christmas block party from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 15 on the Dickson Street campus. Admission to both events is free.

The church offers at "Night of Hope and Healing" with worship and communion at 6 p.m. Dec. 17 in Wesley Chapel.

The church plans the following Christmas Eve services: classic worship, 10:45 a.m., 3 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 24 in the sanctuary; contemporary worship services, 9:30 a.m., 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Dec. 24 in the activities center; and Genesis Church worship, 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Dec. 24 at the Genesis campus.

A contemporary worship service will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 31 in the activities center, and a classic worship service begins at 10:45 a.m. Dec. 31 in the sanctuary.

BENTON COUNTY

Festival of Lessons and Carols will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1416 W. Poplar Ave., Rogers. Choirs from several churches in Rogers will present new music, including St. Vincent, First Presbyterian Church, Grace United Methodist Church, Oakley Chapel United Methodist Church, Central United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church.

Highlands Church of Bella Vista, 371 Glasgow Road, will host the 29th annual Cookie Walk with doors opening at 8 a.m. Dec. 2. The walk begins at 8:30 a.m. with cinnamon rolls, coffee, sweets, treats, soup-to-go and handmade crafts available for purchase all morning to allow shopping while waiting to walk.

Presbyterian Women will hold a Christmas Tea at 2 p.m. Dec. 9 in Fellowship Hall. Sign up at the Information Center to attend and invite a guest.

The Martha Garvin Circle of Presbyterian Women collected 198 sweaters to be given to Samaritan Community Center as Christmas gifts for their participants. Hand-knitted and crocheted scarves, headbands, hats and gloves were also donated.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., will host "A Thrill of Hope," a Christmas concert, at 4 p.m. Dec. 10.

On Dec. 5, there will be a special worship service at 11:30 a.m. for those that are unable to attend a regular worship service. Following the service a lunch will be served. For transportation, call the church office at 855-0272.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is requesting items to help with Christmas time, especially cereal. A container for donations is in the church narthex. Monetary donations are always welcome.

Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., hosts the Bella Vista Men's Chorus for "Christmas Cheer" at 3 p.m. Dec. 3 in the sanctuary.

The Christmas Cantata "Invitation to a Miracle" by Joseph M. Martin will be performed by the music department during the 9:30 a.m. worship service on Dec. 10.

The Bentonville High School Chamber Orchestra Benefit Concert is at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 12 in the sanctuary.

The Bella Vista Community Band's Christmas Concert begins with a reception at 2 p.m. Dec. 17, followed by the performance at 3 p.m., in the sanctuary.

The Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service will be held during the 9:30 a.m. worship service on Dec. 24.

Village Bible Church in Bella Vista, 1591 Forest Hills Boulevard, presents a men's Bible study on the Second Epistle of Peter at 7 p.m. Tuesday led by Pastor Mark Voll in Fellowship Hall. A ladies' KniTTogether ministry and the White Cross Women's Mission ministry also meet at 7 p.m.

The Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday. This ministry is available to anyone in the area who needs help with groceries and would appreciate the compassion and encouragement of friendly volunteers.

Events include music by Lakota flutist John Two-Hawks at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 1, followed by a Sabbath celebration with Rabbi Lennick at 7 p.m.; Sufi poetry, music and dances at 7 p.m. Dec. 2; and a full day of activities starting with a universal worship service at 9:45 a.m. Dec. 3.
