Early voting begins in Rogers proposed annexation

ROGERS -- Early voting in a proposed annexation by Rogers begins Tuesday, according to the Benton County Clerk's Office.

Early votes can be cast in the clerk's offices at the county courthouse in Bentonville or 1428 W. Walnut St. in Rogers. Early voting is available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and again Monday. Early voting is not available on Friday, which is the Veteran's Day holiday, or on the weekends.

The election concerns the proposed annexation of two areas west of the city that total about 2,837.8 acres between Rogers and Highfill. After the election was announced, some of the residents within the area to be annexed petitioned to join Bentonville. Bentonville's city council accepted the annexation, a decision that resulted in a lawsuit from Rogers that is still pending.

All registered voters in Rogers and in the area proposed for annexation are eligible to vote. This includes residents of the area annexed into Bentonville, according to the clerk's office.

Tuesday, Nov. 14 is the regular voting day for the special election. Voting on the date of the special election can be done at either the Southside Church of Christ, 919 Dixieland Road in Rogers, or at the Benton County Election Commission office at 1204 S.W. 14th St. in Bentonville.
