Carbon monoxide detected at Bentonville hotel

BENTONVILLE -- Bentonville firefighters were called to the Holiday Inn Express after carbon monoxide was detected Monday morning, Deputy Chief Kevin Boydston said.

The department received the call at 8:02 a.m., Boydston said.

The hotel at 2205 S.E. Walton Blvd. is being renovated and a construction crew was putting a roof on the building, he said. The hotel has carbon monoxide detectors and the alarm went off, Boydston said.

"The manager did a great job and evacuated the hotel of customers and employees," Boydston said.

The carbon monoxide never grew to a dangerous level, he said. There were no medical complaints, he said.

Firefighters remained at the scene for more than three hours, Boydston said.
