Northwest Technical Institute bringing technical education to NWA

For forty-two years, Northwest Technical Institute has met the career and technical education needs of individuals from Northwest Arkansas, Eastern Oklahoma, and Southwestern Missouri who wish to enter a marketable occupation. Some students come to NTI who are already in an occupation and they want to upgrade or update their occupational skills and knowledge. But, some students come with a strong desire of going from a minimum wage job to an occupation that has future and benefits. Northwest Technical Institute, along with its sister school Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute in Forrest City, are the only career and technical education schools left in the State of Arkansas.

Currently, Northwest Technical Institute offers ten diploma programs along with a CNA program.

Northwest Technical Institute offers a Business and Industry Center on Campus. Our professional staff offers extensive knowledge of industrial maintenance, including, but not limited to, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and troubleshooting; as well as emphasis on electric motors, motor controls, and PLC troubleshooting with Control Logix.

For the 2017 school year, Northwest Technical Institute had a 75% graduation rate, with an 86% job placement rate, but in some occupational pathways the placement rate was almost 100%. For the last six years, the NTI Practical Nursing program has had a 100% passage rate on the NCLEX, or the national licensure exam for practicing nurses. For the benefit of the public Northwest Technical Institute has not had a tuition increase for nearly five years now.

Northwest Technical Institute has partnerships with Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville, Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri and North Arkansas College in Harrison, and Arkansas Tech in Russellville which allow our students to articulation ability in search of higher degrees. Each school will accept the transfer of certain credits allowing for the NTI students who seek to earn an Associate Degree.

Northwest Technical Institute is the current administrator of the Secondary Career Center. The NTI Secondary Career Center (SCC) is a secondary career and technology center that serves seventeen public schools in Northwest Arkansas. It provides training for current high school students to earn high school credit in career and technical education fields at no cost to the student. The SCC is available to junior and senior high school students. The SCC is supported by the Arkansas State Department of Career Education. The Secondary Career Center provides students with access to high quality career and technical certification programs. NTI offers satellite programs at the Centers of Career Academy of Hair Design, along with satellite sites in both Farmington, Rogers and Gravette.

NTI provides the Washington County area with a full slate of adult education services. Our Center provides English as a second Language, GED (General High School Equivalency) Testing, and training for Naturalization Testing.

Northwest Technical Institute works in tandem with business and industry of Northwest Arkansas to address career and technical needs. NTI can address these needs by offering classes through our Community Education classes, or if an employee deficiency exists, NTI can develop programs of study in order to meet the needs of business and industry.

The faculty, staff, and administration of Northwest Technical Institute looks forward to continuing our tradition of providing a high quality and affordable career and technical education to those individuals who enroll at our school, while meeting our mission statement, "Changing lives through education, training and skill development."
