Ramp repairs in the Interstate 430/Cantrell Road interchange will require the ramp to be closed Thursday night, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.
The ramp that moves traffic from Cantrell, also called Arkansas 10, to I-430 northbound will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday, weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled using warning signs and traffic drums, the department said.
The work will fix a high-friction surface treatment application on the ramp. The application uses rocks that are both polish- and wear-resistant and develops channels to prevent water buildup on wet surfaces.
Maintaining the appropriate amount of pavement friction, the department said, is critical in locations where drivers may brake excessively, such as when going around curves or approaching an intersection.
