Lowell Grisham: A gift that keeps giving

Medicare coverage should start at birth, not 65

I had a birthday last week. It was a big one. This was the year when I got the best birthday card ever, my Medicare Health Insurance card.

This story is only available from our archives.

In California, the state senate just passed bill establishing a 'medicare for all' program. However, the bill was killed in the state house by the democrat leadership because the bill setup the program but provided absolutely no funding mechanisms.

The problem is the program would cost $400 billion to implement in California. The total state budget this year is $183 billion. So if they could just find a way to more than double the revenue collected by the state, then everyone could have 'FREE' healthcare for all.
