"There are differing components in providing services to people in need and physical health is one of those," said Anita Scism, president and CEO of the Endeavor Foundation. "The child and family center that the donation is made to sees many people in need and we felt like that fits with our focus."

The grant is the first programming gift announced, according to a news release from the hospital foundation.

"We're on track with our construction," said Ashley Leopoulos, public relations coordinator for the foundation.

Major steel work, landscaping grade, outdoor curbs and gutters, the central power plant enclosure, dry ponds and the installation of overhead mechanical services were completed during November and December, according to Tricia Montague, senior vice president of regional services.

The 230,000-square-foot building is set to open near Arvest Ballpark and Interstate 49 in January 2018. It will have room for 24 inpatient beds, an emergency department, five operating rooms and an outpatient clinic for the region's roughly 200,000 children. The hospital will complement the more intensive care available at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, officials have said. It is expected to create 250 new jobs.

The hospital is being built on 37 acres donated by Robin and Gary George, Cathy and David Evans and their families at an estimated value of $7.5 million.

The hospital is expected to cost $427.7 million in construction, technology, equipment and operating expenses over the first five years, according to a news release. The Endeavor Foundation donation is in addition to $57 million in other donations previously announced.
