Chef Steven Brooks in Cook with Brooks AETN dishes up a new series

Cooking shows are all the rage these days. From Food Network to the Cooking Channel, television stars and celebrity chefs offer advice, tips and recipes for the foodie in all of us. Now AETN is throwing its hat into the ring with the new series Cook With Brooks. It will air at 5 p.m. Saturdays.

Starring Arkansan Steven Brooks, the show will feature local farmers, restaurants, chefs and stories about food. Brooks has more than 10 years as an executive chef in and around Bella Vista. He's a farm-to-table guy whose mantra is "eating local."

Some of the highlights of the first season are:

• Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art's Eleven restaurant in Bentonville. Chef William Lyle creates a quick coq au vin.

• White River Creamery in Elkins. It will prepare a chicken slider recipe using its triple-pepper halloumi cheese.

• Tri Cycle Farms, a community garden on two acres of land in Fayetteville. Brooks will talk about food awareness, hunger and educating the community with founder Don Bennett.

• The Vanzant Fruit Farm in Lowell. It has been in operation since 1949 and will discuss the farm's apple, peach and grape production.

• Black Apple Crossing in downtown Springdale, the only cider brewer in Arkansas. In the kitchen, Brooks will make cider pork tacos.

• The McGarrah farm where Brooks will join Dennis "Farmer" McGarrah for a hayride and trip to the pumpkin patch.
