Trails

Ozark Highland Trail Association will welcome Nimblewill Nomad to a meeting at 6 p.m. today at the Washington County Extension Office, 2536 McConnell Road in Fayetteville. Nomad, a poet, storyteller and ultra-long-distance hiker, will give a presentation on his trek along Historic Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica, Calif., that he took this year at age 79. The presentation is free and open to the public.

OHTA is sponsoring a twin hike to a Searcy County scenic area called Pedestal Rocks on Dec. 16. This is a 2.6 mile hike, with an optional King's Bluff hike of 1.9 mile loop. These areas are dominated by high bluffs and cliffs and are not recommended for small children. No dogs will be allowed. The hike is rated easy to moderate due to distance. Bring water and lunch. Meet at Harps in Elkins near the gas pumps at 8:30 a.m. to carpool.

Gardeners

The Bentonville Garden Club will meet at noon Tuesday at the home of Melody Martens. There will be a Christmas party.

SUV

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Foghorns Restaurant, 2221 W. Walnut in Rogers. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. The Sons of Union Veterans is a fraternal organization honoring the heritage of those who fought for the United States during the Civil War. The meeting is open to all.

Support

This supportive and educational group is for adult patients, caregivers, families and friends coping with leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, MDS or other blood cancers. The group meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hope Cancer Resources, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale.

Historians

The Bella Vista Historical Museum's History Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the museum, located at U.S. 71 and Kingsland, for a showing of the movie "Jesse James," made in Pineville, Mo., in 1938. Families are welcome to come take a break from Christmas shopping to enjoy the movie and find out why Bella Vista has a role in the story of the making of this movie. Admission is free, and popcorn will be served.

The Ozark Mountains Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Houlihan's, 2203 S. Promenade Blvd. in Rogers, for a Christmas lunch.

Whirlaways

The Ark-Oma Whirlaways will host a Christmas dance and boutique beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Springdale Senior Center, 203 Park St. There will be mainstream and plus level dancing, and all dancers are invited. Banners will be given to visiting clubs.

Stage IV

Hope Cancer Resources offers a support group for people living with any type of stage IV cancer. This month's meeting will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 29 at Hope Cancer Resources, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale. Members must RSVP.

Toastmasters

Twin Lakes Toastmasters Club in Fayetteville will deliver the skills and confidence people need to effectively express themselves in any situation. The club meets at 6:30 p.m. every Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1021 W. Sycamore St. in Fayetteville.

Perfect Harmony

Perfect Harmony Women's Barbershop Chorus meets from 4 to 5:30 p.m. every Monday in the choir room of the United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista. No previous experience or tryouts are required. Rehearsals will resume Jan. 8 after the holiday break.

Photographers

Douglas Keck, president of the Bella Vista/Bentonville Photography Club won first place in this month's photography contest category, "Fall Colors." Kelly Harrison Story Ballard won second place, and Christopher Nelson and Rebecca Brubaker tied for third place.

The next club meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 16 at Hometown Bank in Jane, Mo.
