State board selects Pulaski County JP

Pulaski County Justice of the Peace Paul Elliott was selected as the vice president of the Arkansas Association of Counties' Quorum Court executive board.

He was unanimously selected by the other 11 members of the board. After serving on the executive board for three years, it will be his first year as vice president.

Elliott was selected unanimously to represent the county by the Pulaski County Quorum Court last January.

The board serves as a liaison between county governments across the state and the state Legislature.

Elliott said his top two legislative priorities are imposing a sales tax for purchases made online, and ensuring that any campus-carry bill includes provisions for safety training and a minimum age of 25.

"I love serving on the committee, because you learn what is going on all across the state, and what we need for Pulaski County," Elliott said. "I think we should have someone there, as we are the biggest county in Arkansas."

David Thompson serves as the board's president.
