WASHINGTON COUNTY

Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Northwest Arkansas in Fayetteville, 2901 E. Zion Road, Suite 17, offers Resurrection celebration services with communion at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. An Easter potluck brunch is served between the services.

The church also will install the Rev. Jeffery Carpenter as its first full-time pastor. Carpenter earned his master of divinity degree from the Lutheran Seminary Program of the Southwest in Austin, Texas. He served churches in north-central Kansas, Fredericksburg, Texas, and Boerne, Texas. He has served on various disaster relief teams and with international mission and ministry projects in Ethiopia, Uganda, Honduras and Mexico.

Mount Sequoyah Assembly in Fayetteville, 150 N. Skyline Drive, hosts its 94th annual Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at Vesper Point outdoor chapel. The Rev. Carl Palmer, associate pastor of Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, will deliver the message. Rebecca McBride and Arkoustic provide worship music. In case of bad weather, the service moves inside the Clapp Auditorium.

The lights at Mount Sequoyah's cross overlook currently are dimmed. The cross will be relighted early Easter morning for the sunrise service.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, 2925 N. Old Missouri Road, begins its Easter vigil at 6:30 p.m. today. Easter services begin at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday, with a potluck breakfast and Easter egg hunt between the services, at 10 a.m.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, 224 N. East Ave., offers several services to observe the Easter season.

Holy Saturday Liturgy is offered at 9 a.m. Saturday, and the Great Vigil of Easter, with candles and incense, begins at 8:15 p.m. today. A Festive Breakfast is served at 10 p.m. today.

Easter services include: Holy Eucharist, incense free, 7:30 a.m. Sunday; Holy Eucharist, 8:45 a.m. Sunday in the church, incense-free in the Parish Hall; and Holy Eucharist, 11 a.m. Sunday.

An Easter egg hunt for children is planned for 10:45 a.m. Sunday in the church green space.

Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, 6 W. First Presbyterian Church in Springdale, 100 S. Gutensohn Road, holds its Easter worship and flowering of the cross at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. An Easter breakfast is served at 9:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Fayetteville, 1755 E. Rolling Hills Dr., presents Chet Manchester speaking on "Infinite Possibilities for Healing" at 6 p.m. Friday at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, 4703 Crossover Road in Fayetteville. Manchester is a New York-based Christian Science lecturer who works to help people find spiritual solutions to their problems through prayer. His one-hour talk is based on the book Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, founder of Christian Science.

The Dharmata Foundation presents Anam Thubten teaching about meditation and Buddhist wisdom on working with thoughts and emotions from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, 224 N. East Ave. From an early age, he has practiced the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and is founder and spiritual adviser for the Dharmata Foundation. A donation of $10 is suggested.

The four-part series includes sessions with Todd Whatley, an elder-care attorney, speaking on legal protections on Monday; Bill Tenison speaking on Medicare and supplementary insurance, April 24; Don Baker with First Financial Services, speaking on financial security, May 1; and Sara Bartlett, a senior care consultant, speaking on housing stability, May 8. First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville, 901 N.E. J St., holds Easter worship with communion and special music -- including brass, hand bells, organ and choir -- at 10:15 a.m. Sunday.

An Easter egg hunt for children through grade 4 begins in the sanctuary with a reading of the Easter story at 10 a.m. today.

St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Rogers, 824 W. Oak St., offers Festal services with communion to celebrate Easter at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sunday. An Easter egg hunt follows the 10 a.m. service.

The church holds a candlelight vigil from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, related to the Arkansas Death Row inmates scheduled to be executed next week.

The youth of the church serve an Easter breakfast at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, and an Easter egg hunt is planned as part of Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., offers Easter worship at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The church gives away "Balancing Eagles," which tie into the Easter story, during an Easter egg hunt at 4 p.m. today.

The Celebration Choir presents a spring concert at 4 p.m. April 23. The Risen Christ will be performed, with orchestra accompaniment.

The church plans dinner and a movie at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday for parents and children age 3 to sixth grade.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday. The pantry needs donations of toilet paper, paper towels, facial tissues and $5 coupons for Dollar General.

Three young adults -- Kenlee Billing, Nicolas Kitzmiller and Nicole Vogt -- confirmed their faith during the church's worship service April 9.

The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., celebrates Easter with a traditional worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday, featuring the church's Chancel Choir in the Easter cantata Lamb of God by Lloyd Larson. Communion will be served. An Easter egg hunt is set for 9:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

The church continues its Lenten study at 2 p.m. Thursday, with the church pastors leading the study of Aging Matters: Finding Your Calling for the Rest of Your Life by R. Paul Stevens.

The Care and Share trailer from Gravette will sit in the church parking lot May 1-2, collecting gently used donations for its thrift-store.

New Life Christian Church in Bella Vista, 103 Riordan Road, offers Easter celebration services at 5 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

The church begins a new series of Bible study April 23. The study is based on The Story: The Bible as One Continuing Story of God and His People by Max Lucado and Randy Frazee. Each person who attends the series will receive a free, hardcover copy of the book, beginning Sunday.

The Disciples Men's Fellowship meets at 8:30 a.m. today for breakfast. Barbara Aguirre from Operation Reboot will speak.

The church plans a "Happening Place" event with bluegrass and barbecue at 5:15 p.m. April 28. Ron Pennington and the Lonesome Road band provide music.

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, participates in an Easter sunrise service for the community at 7 a.m. Sunday at the Metfield Clubhouse, 3 Euston Road in Bella Vista.

Midweek Manna resumes at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. In addition to small group study sessions, crafts and other activities, the church offers a program about the trails in Bella Vista on Wednesday, with a 2-mile hike around the trails planned for April 26. A fellowship supper starts the evening, with a suggested donation of $5 for adults, $3 for children younger than 10 and a family maximum of $15.

The United Methodist Men serve a pancake breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 5. Cost is $6, with children 5 and younger eating for free.

Bible Reading Ministry International, based in Green Forest, sponsors an informational meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Cattleman's Restaurant in Green Forest about a possible bus tour to the "Ark Encounter" in Williamsburg, Ky. The seven-day trip, with dates open this year, would also include visits to the Newport (Ky.) Aquarium and the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden.

Readers and other volunteers are needed for the eighth annual Carroll County Bible Reading Marathon, running from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 4-11. The event begins with a picnic at the National Day of Prayer event May 4 on the grounds of The Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs.
