Fullerton leads Harding past Lane

Harding University (12-21) sent 12 batters to the plate and scored 8 runs in the second inning in a 13-3 victory over Lane (1-22) on Tuesday at Jerry Moore Field in Searcy. The game ended after seven innings because of the NCAA's 10-run rule.

Lane had four of its 10 hits in the first inning and scored twice. Harding trimmed the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Luke Van Dover, then blew the game open in the second inning. Two key hits came with the bases loaded: a two-run single by Myles Humphreys and a three-run double from J. Paul Fullerson, who finished 2 for 2 with 1 run scored and 4 RBI. The Bisons tacked on single runs in the third and sixth innings to take an 11-2 lead.

Lane's Chris O'Neal drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth inning to pull within 11-3, but Harding ended the game when Van Dover's grounder got by Keishaun Clark and two runs scored in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Bisons used a different pitcher in each inning. Matt Sherry (1-0) struck out the side in the second inning to earn the victory. Harding pitchers struck out a season-high 11 batters. Grant Guest and Connor Kelly had two hits apiece for the Bisons, and leadoff hitter Ben Brauss scored three runs.
