PROVE THE POSSIBLE

Festivities salute 15th year of KIPP Delta school group

KIPP Delta Public Schools, a network of charter schools offering free college-preparatory education to children in the Delta, celebrated its 15th anniversary during the annual Prove the Possible Gala held Oct. 21 at the Clinton Presidential Center.

Scott Shirey, a founder and executive director of KIPP Delta, welcomed about 300 guests to the event, saying the evening wouldn't be the typical dinner and a program. "Join us in getting a little loose and celebrate with us tonight," he said.

The festive affair began with a silent auction and music by Steel City Two from KIPP Blytheville Collegiate High School as guests enjoyed passed hors d'oeuvres and several tables of appetizers. Later, they enjoyed a dinner buffet.

There were short presentations throughout the evening including music from KIPP Forrest City College Preparatory School and a keynote address by KIPP co-founder Dave Levin.

The evening ended with dance music by the DMP Band from Memphis.

KIPP Delta operates six schools in Helena-West Helena, Blytheville and Forrest City.
