Fort Hays State University

Two local students graduated in the summer 2016 term at Fort Hays (Kan.) State University.

Virgil Hayden of Farmington earned a master’s degree of liberal studies (public administration). Chance Bulmer of Bentonville earned a bachelor of science degree in organizational leadership.

at Fort Smith

Matthew Farrar of Fort Smith has been accepted to study at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, claimed to be the oldest English literature program in the world. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, spent a summer internship teaching English to employees of Visteon Inc. in China, studied abroad with the university in Spain and spent a summer in South Korea.

Cultural evaluation and discrimination became Farrar’s focus of study at the Fort Smith school, and with the guidance of faculty there, published two research papers through the university’s Undergraduate Research Symposium, as well as a paper at the University of Central Oklahoma.
