Richey turns 106

Bessie Lawson Richey of Fayetteville celebrated her 106th birthday Oct. 8 with about 90 family members. Among those attending the celebration were her seven living children, G.B.Richey Jr. of Dexter, Mo.; Eulah Grissom, also of Dexter; Harold Richey of Point Blank, Texas; James Richey of Mountain Home; Elbert Richey of Finger, Tenn.; Carolyn Seesengood of Harrison; and Sharon Olmstead of Lowell.

Richey has 30 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, 63 great-great-grandchildren, three greatgreat-great-grandchildren, many in-laws and a host of friends.

Her primary hobbies were quilting and gardening, which she continued to enjoy well past her 100th birthday. She lived independently until age 102 and now lives at Brookstone Assisted Living in Fayetteville.

Cherokee vote

The Cherokee of Arkansas and Missouri Tribe will hold a tribal District 4 election at the Patrick Lynch Public Library at 206 S. McKenna, Poteau, Okla., from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Member and voter cards are required, and applications for membership and renewals will be available.

Participants willl receive a newsletter, a handout of tribal activities and news of government and legislative sessions.

Accident School

reunited

The Accident School reunion will be held Saturday at the Shiloh Museum in Springdale. The potluck dinner will start at 11 a.m.
