Late newspapers due to lightning strike

A lightning strike knocked out electrical equipment on the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s press in Lowell late Wednesday night, significantly delaying production of Thursday’s newspapers.

The strike occurred at about 11:30 p.m., just as press operators were preparing to print the newspaper’s earliest Thursday editions.

It took two hours to fully restore the press's capabilities, causing some subscribers to receive their Thursday papers later than usual.
