BENTONVILLE -- Bentonville High tried to wrestle the momentum away from 7A-West Conference leader Springdale Har-Ber late in the second set, but the Lady Wildcats had the answer en route to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-16) sweep Tuesday night at Tiger Arena.

Bentonville (14-12, 6-4 7A-West) trailed 21-17 in the second set, but battled back for a 21-21 tie. The teams were tied at 22 and again at 23, but Har-Ber scored the final two points aided by a miraculous diving dig by senior libero Emily Doss. The Lady Wildcats (27-3, 10-0) kept that momentum, scoring 10 of the first 11 points in the third set and went on to the sweep.

Har-Ber coach Shyrah Schisler was pleased with how her team was able to keep momentum on their side most of the evening.

"I'm big on when you play somebody, it doesn't matter who's on the other side of the court," Schisler said. "You play your kind of volleyball. We play Har-Ber volleyball and that's intensity. Seeing that tonigth was good for my girls. Learning how to use that into another game."

Lauren Thompson led Har-Ber with a match-high 19 kills, while Klaire Trainor chipped in 11 kills and Paige Williams 10. Doss contributed a match-high 30 digs, while Thompson chipped in 10. Setter Arika Johnson added 19 assists and 11 digs.

Bentonville coach Michelle Smith, who used a different lineup in each set, was pleased with some of the progress she saw.

"We're trying new things because as a coach if I stick to the old way and the old way's not working, I'm not doing my job," Smith said. "I feel like tonight's match from the last time we played them, the scores were better. We improved. I am happy with a lot of things I saw tonight.

"The goal is every time you play a team again is to improve and we did that. The second game was I feel the highlight of the night for us. If we're able to get a different outcome in that second game, maybe that would have turned things around. Har-Ber, they found out holes. They played with intensity tonight and they outplayed us."

Setter Baylee Barganier led Bentonville with 27 assists and 10 digs, while libero Tori Lowry chipped in a team-high 24 digs. Grace Joyce and Tymber Riley finished with nine kills each.
