TENNESSEE TECH 15, UALR 2

Tennessee Tech scored 10 runs in the final three innings to take the final game of a three-game nonconference series on Sunday at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock.

The Golden Eagles (23-19) won two of three games in the series.

Tennessee Tech, of the Ohio Valley Conference, led 2-0 before scoring 3 in the fifth, 4 in the sixth and 6 in the seventh and the game ended because of a run rule.

Reed Willenborg held Tennessee Tech to 2 runs on 7 hits over 4 innings, but the Golden Eagles got to every other Trojans pitcher. Cole Townsend gave up 3 runs in 1 inning, Dylan Slayton gave up 4 runs without recording an out in the sixth inning, while Jacob Rateliff gave up 5 runs in 1 inning and Zach Ours allowed the final run.

Jake Farr went 5 for 5 with 2 RBI and 4 runs scored for Tennessee Tech, while Kevin Strohschein and Chris Brown each hit home runs.

Strohschein gave Tennessee Tech a lead with a two-run double to left in the first and his three-run home run in the six-run seventh gave it a 14-1 lead. That came after Brown’s three-run home run in the sixth.

Ryan Scott went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Cameron Knight went 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Trojans (21-20).

UALR (13-8 Sun Belt Conference) returns to conference action this week with a three-game home series against Texas Arlington, starting Friday.

SEC

MISSOURI 8, TENNESSEE 3

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Zach Levy hit a two-run home run, while Ryan Howard and Ian Nelson also drove in two runs a piece as Missouri finished off a series sweep Sunday.

Nelson’s two-run single gave Missouri a 2-1 lead in the fourth, while Howard’s two-run single capped a three-run sixth inning for the Tigers (24-21, 7-14). Jake Ring and Kirby Mc-Guire also drove in runs and Michael Plassmeyer held Tennessee (24-21, 6-15) to 3 runs, 2 earned, on 7 hits while striking out 4 over 5 1/3 innings pitched.

Cole Bartlett and Austin Tribby combined to pitch 3 2/3 shutout innings in relief. The victory moved Missouri out of a last-place tie with Tennessee in the SEC East.

KENTUCKY 9, AUBURN 6

AUBURN, Ala. — JaVon Shelby’s three-run home run capped a five-run seventh inning and Kentucky avoided a three-game sweep with a victory Sunday.

Shelby’s home run, his second of the game, came after Evan White’s RBI single and a sacrifice fly from Zach Reks and the Wildcats (27-17, 11-10) led 9-1 after the inning. Auburn (20-24, 7-14) scored two runs in the eighth and three in the ninth.

Shelby, who went 2 for 4 with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored, also led off the second with a home run. He has nine home runs on the season. White drove in three runs while Reks had two RBI.

Damon Haecker went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI for Auburn, while Melvin Gray had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs.

VANDERBILT 10, GEORGIA 3

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Four different Vanderbilt players hit home runs as it completed a three-game sweep on Sunday.

Julian Infante’s two-run home run in the first gave Vanderbilt (34-10, 13-8) a lead, then Jeren Kendall and Ethan Paul each hit two-run home runs in the fifth. Karl Ellison’s home run came in the eighth.

Kendall and Paul each drove in three runs for the Commodores, who scored 35 runs in the three-game series.

Trevor Kieboom had three hits for Georgia (22-23, 7-14), which has lost five consecutive SEC games.
