Driver killed, passenger injured after vehicle hits telephone pole, tree

One man was killed and another was injured in a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Little Rock, Arkansas State Police said.

In a preliminary report, troopers said Miquel Boyd, 37, was driving north on Washington Street at 2:30 a.m. when he lost control of his 2002 GMC Sierra and hit a curb before crashing into a telephone pole and tree.

A 39-year-old passenger, Carlos Deshon Young, was injured and taken to UAMS Medical Center for treatment, police said.

Weather and road conditions were described as clear and dry at the time of the accident, according to the report.

Police said Boyd's death was the 100th reported on an Arkansas road this year.
