Bandy chosen by Royals in MLB Draft

Providence Academy senior Luke Bandy was selected in the 32nd round of the Major League Baseball draft on Saturday, the 973rd overall pick. Bandy (6-foot, 175 pounds), who has signed a letter of intent to play at Dallas Baptist University, was selected as an outfielder by the defending World Series champion Royals. “We are proud of Luke. He has all the tools the professional scouts are looking for.,” Providence coach Brett McConnell said. “His speed and athletic ability give him tremendous versatility and defensively he has the qualities the Royals have always had a history of drafting for their organization.” Bandy led the Patriots to an OCSSA state baseball title this spring, batting.484 with 19 RBIs, 6 triples and 3 home runs.
