Beaver Lake: Catfish are biting well on all areas of Beaver Lake.

Mike Whitehouse at Hickory Creek Marina said jug lines baited with small sunfish or goldfish are working to catch flathead catfish to 20 pounds.

Bluegill fishing is good with worms. A boy was fishing off a dock with worms under a bobber in the Hickory Creek area and caught a 25-inch walleye, Whitehouse said. Troll with nightcrawler rigs to target walleye, he added.

John Newlun at Hook, Line and Sinker also reports excellent bluegill fishing on all areas of the lake. Fish with crickets or worms under a bobber in shallow water.

Striped bass fishing is good from Point 5 to the dam. Try top-water lures early. Go with shad or brood minnows later in the day. White bass are schooling on the surface at Point 5, Newlun said.

Channel catfish can be caught with rod and reel using liver or nightcrawlers for bait. To catch flathead catfish, use jug lines or trotlines baited with small sunfish.

Black bass action has slowed down. Try top-water lures, spinner baits and plastic worms. Average water temperature is 72 to 77 degrees.

Beaver tailwater: Tom Steinke at the Beaver Dam Store said power generation has been heavy. Drift-fishing from a boat is best. Work countdown Rapalas or Flicker Shads along current seams.

On the lake side of the dam, striped bass are biting Rat-L-Traps at sunrise near the day use area on the north end of the dam.

Lake Fayetteville: Al Perea at the lake office said bluegill are biting worms or crickets. Black bass are biting minnows.

Lake Sequoyah: Mike McBride at the lake bait shop said catfish bite well when the water is muddy. Use liver, shad or worms. Try spinner baits or top-water lures for black bass. Use minnows or jigs for crappie six feet deep.

Lake Elmdale: Lucky Key at Duck Camp Fishing retreat said black bass are biting plastic worms. Crappie are biting minnows or jigs eight feet deep.

Try the upstream end of the lake for bluegill. Fish two feet deep with worms or crickets under a bobber in water that is four feet deep.

Swepco Lake: Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said black bass are biting top-water lures, swim baits and plastic worms.

Illinois River: Stroud recommends using small tube baits or Rooster Tails to catch black bass.

Bella Vista: Taylor Surly at Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista said black bass are biting jig and pigs around boat docks at all Bella Vista lakes. Top-water lures are working for bass early.

Bluegill are scattered but can be caught with worms.

Eastern Oklahoma: The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation reports good crappie fishing at Grand Lake with minnows around brush and docks. White bass fishing is good with minnows or Shad Rap lures in the main lake. Blue and channel catfish are biting shad.

Table Rock Lake: The Missouri Department of Conservation reports good bluegill fishing with worms. Use top-water lures early and on cloudy days to catch black bass. On sunny days, fish for bass 20 feet deep with grubs, plastic worms or jig and pigs.

Catfish are biting well on trotlines or limb lines baited with small sunfish. Rod and reel anglers are catching catfish with shrimp.
