Honduras mission marks anniversary

Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Honduras Medical Mission during Masses today and Sunday. Mass is at 5 p.m. today and at 8 and 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 and 6 p.m. Sunday. The church is at 4000 N. Rodney Parham Road.

The Honduras mission, the vision of Monsignor Gaston Hebert and Dr. Don Greenway, was started in 1996. Since that time the church has sent more than 1,100 missionaries to Trujillo, Honduras, as well as to surrounding villages. Many parishioners have taken multiple trips to help provide medical care to residents, as well as to share their faith and participate in other projects.

In addition to providing medical care, missionaries from the church have built three churches, renovated 10 and built additions on three. The teams also helped modernize a hospital and provided medical equipment and supported schools by providing supplies and completing construction projects.

Teams will continue their efforts during a trip at the end of this month and again in June.

Information on the Honduras mission is available online at ctkhondurasmission.org or by calling Sandee Haslauer, director, (501) 225-6774, Extension 282.
