Clark wins series

Tim Clark won the Beaver Lake Elite Series bass tournament held Aug. 20 at Beaver Lake with five bass that weighed 14.62 pounds. He also had big bass with a 4.76-pound largemouth bass.

Kevin Burkett was second with five bass at 12.13 pounds. Keith Brashers placed third with five bass at 10.81 pounds.

Fourth through tenth, all with five bass, were: fourth, Jason Sandidge, 9.92; fifth, Michael Hubbard, 9.85; sixth, Kevin Kester, 9.21; seventh, Pat Major, 8.89; eighth, Justin Hoffman, 8.87; ninth, Roger Harp, 8.82; 10th Jeff Kositzke, 8.66.

Archers host shoot

Cherokee Bowhunters will hold their final 3-D archery shoot of the season Saturday at the Fort Crowder archery range near Neosho, Mo.

Shooters may start anytime between 9 a.m., and 1 p.m. The course features 20 wildlife targets that simulate hunting situations.

Hike explores trail

Hill ‘N Dale Hiking Club will begin its fall season Sept. 8 with a hike on the Slaughter Pen Trail in Bentonville. The hike is two to three miles of moderate difficulty. George Riggin will lead the trip.

All hikers are welcome. Membership is not required. The club has several hikes scheduled through fall.

Cleanup targets lake

The annual Beaver Lake Cleanup will be Sept. 24 on all areas of the lake.

Volunteers may pick up trash bags after 8 a.m. Pick up bags at Prairie Creek, Dam Site, Hickory Creek or Lost Bridge North parks.

Lunch and prize drawings for volunteers begins at noon at Prairie Creek park grand shelter.

Meeting focuses

on water

The Beaver Lake Watershed Symposium will be from 9:30 a.m.to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Northwest Arkansas Realty Board building, 314 N. Goad Springs Road in Lowell.

Presentations about long term trends in the lake’s water quality will be presented, plus information about conservation efforts in the lake watershed.

Other topics include the Army Corps of Engineers’ shoreline management plan and bank stabilization efforts along the West Fork of the White River.
