Bret Bielema, University of Arkansas Razorback head football coach, his wife Jen and members of the football coaching staff and their wives played hosts to more than 250 Susan G. Komen Ozark Affiliate supporters July 28 for the third annual Football 101.
The girls-night-out fundraiser at the University of Arkansas Fred W. Smith Football Center in Fayetteville included tours of the center and sessions with coaches to learn the x's and o's of the game. The $25,000 brought in from the event will help support local breast cancer programs.

The fifth annual Beach Bingo Bash to benefit the Elizabeth Richardson Center on July 29 at Mermaids Seafood Restaurant in Fayetteville drew a record crowd of more than 230 backers and brought in approximately $17,000 for the nonprofit organization.
The group serves children and adults with disabilities in Washington, Benton and Madison counties. For high school students and adults, the group provides vocational training, job placement, community involvement and independent living options.
The center recently created gofundme.com/ercnwa to raise $15,000 to purchase specialized playground equipment for children with special needs.
Offerings for preschool children ages 6 weeks to 5 years at its Child Development Centers include speech, physical and occupational therapies. The centers are in Farmington, Fayetteville, Huntsville, Springdale and Siloam Springs. Their center in Springdale provides for services for Hispanic and Marshallese families.
The organization also operates Richardson Industries, which employs adults with disabilities who provide contract services such packaging, assembly, light repair, sorting and labeling for businesses.
Those joining the group for the bingo benefit included Kristin and Steve Litzinger, Jenna Johnston and David Demorotski, Jean and Bill Bower, Carla and Glenn Atkins and Amy and David Bates.
The C.A.R.E. Initiative, which stands for children, awareness, responsibility and encouragement, welcomed guests for the annual Las Faygas fundraiser on July 30 at The Chancellor Hotel in Fayetteville.
Proceeds from the evening of Las Vegas-style gaming, food, drinks and prizes will go to support area women's and children's charities that include EOA Children's House, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Northwest Arkansas, Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter, the Children's Safety Center, Children's Advocacy Center of Benton County, Havenwood and Youth Bridge.
