Backers champion children’s center

Bobby Odom and the Odom Law Firm welcomed some 500 guests for the 44th annual Seafood Jubilee on July 22 at the Fayetteville-Springdale Elks Lodge in Fayetteville. The group served up approximately 500 pounds each of crawfish and shrimp.

Along with Bobby, firm members playing host were Matt Lindsay, Russell Winburn, Conrad Odom, Alan Lane, Monte Sharits and Bryant Crooks.

Beat the Heat Luncheon

What: The luncheon was part of the Mercy Sports Medicine Coaching Summit that drew hundreds of area coaches and physical education teachers for a day of learning about the latest developments in sports medicine.

Among those gathered for the afternoon-long event were Judge John Threet, Judge Joanna Taylor, Gen and Frank Broyles, Win Phillips, Cyndi Nance, Lisa and Howard Higgins, Judge David Clinger, Judge Xollie Duncan, Kay and Sid Davis and Dee Howe.

Children's Safety Center champions joined the group for the ninth annual Dream Big Charity Gala on July 23 at the Fayetteville Town Center. The $130,000 the 1,000 guests helped raise will go to support the nonprofit organization's programs for child abuse victims.

The Children's Safety Center coordinates investigation, prosecution and treatment services in child abuse cases with law enforcement, child protective services, victim service providers, prosecutors, medical personnel, mental health professionals and volunteers.

Last year the center saw 546 children and averaged 45 a month. In July, they served 74 children and as of Aug. 4 had already seen 11 children.

Those championing the Children's Safety Center included Sarah White, Kirby Jett Harris and Nathan Harris, Jennifer Rivas, Mandy Rogers and Adam Luetgen, Shelby Barron and Brett Booker, Holly and Jon Thorn, Carrie and Brandon Bell, Amy and J.S. Bull, Kelly Krall and Tracy Ego, Nick Pynes-Smallwood, Hayley Mitcham, Jillian Oyler, Kristin Baldwin and Elizabeth and Scott Shackelford.

Kendrick Fincher Hydration for Life kicked off Heat Stroke Awareness month with the Beat the Heat Luncheon on July 28 at the John Q. Hammons Center in Rogers.
