Officer nearly hit by car; 1 arrested

A Jacksonville man narrowly avoided running over a North Little Rock police officer during a traffic disturbance Thursday, according to a police report released Friday.

The officer was at 1606 North Schaer St. responding to a disturbance in the roadway about 6 p.m. Thursday when a tan Jeep began heading south toward the officer at a high rate of speed, police said.

The Jeep came to a stop after the officer leaped out of the way to avoid being struck, according to the report. The officer ordered the driver several times to exit the vehicle, but he refused, the report said.

The officer removed Xavier Gray, 22, of 2613 Coffelt Road in Jacksonville from the vehicle and placed him under arrest. Gray was identified as having been involved in an earlier disturbance, according to the report.

Gray was charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor refusal to submit. He was being held in the Pulaski County jail Friday in lieu of $27,500 bond.

Chase at school ends with arrest

Little Rock Police Department officers chased a man through the hallways of Metropolitan Vo-Tech school Friday afternoon after investigating a theft, according to a police report.

Alvin Hill, 39, of 1700 Pine St. in Arkadelphia, was later arrested in a wooded area near the school.

Officers found a container in his pocket that held 1.5 grams of individually packaged methamphetamine, a glass smoking pipe and 3.5 grams of marijuana, the report said.

Hill was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, felony possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor fleeing.

He is being held without bail in the Pulaski County jail.

Stolen car found; LR man arrested

Sheriff's deputies arrested a Little Rock man Friday after a stolen vehicle was found at his home, according to a Pulaski County sheriff's office report.

About noon, deputies went to the home of Todd Osborne, 23828 Lawson Road, to investigate a residential burglary report. An officer checked the tags on a vehicle in the driveway to ensure he had the correct address and found the license plate had been reported stolen, according to the report.

The officer knocked on the door of the mobile home, but there was no answer. Another officer then arrived and confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Little Rock, the report said.

Osborne was eventually found inside the house. A search of the vehicle then uncovered Osborne's birth certificate, debit card and tax information inside, the report said.

Osborne was arrested and charged with felony theft by receiving of $25,000 or more and misdemeanor theft by receiving. He was taken to Pulaski County jail, and bail was set at $8,000. He was not listed on the jail's inmate roster late Friday.

Rescue's spurner taken to jail in LR

A Little Rock man was arrested Friday morning after swearing at firefighters who tried to rescue him from his vehicle, which was stranded in floodwaters, according to an arrest report.

A Pulaski County sheriff's deputy responded at about 9:55 a.m. Friday to a call at Ruth Lane in Little Rock of a vehicle that was stalled in deep water. Percy Taylor, 53, of 10410 Johnson Road refused the deputy's orders to get out of the vehicle, even though the water was rising, according to the report.

As he was removing Taylor from the vehicle, the deputy said he smelled a strong odor of intoxicants. Taylor then began verbally abusing firefighters on the scene and threatening them because they refused to pull the car from the water, the report said.

Taylor also was noncompliant while being booked at the Pulaski County jail, according to the report.

He was charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and terroristic threatening, all misdemeanors. He was being held at the Pulaski County jail Friday night in lieu of $1,700 bond.

Parolee held after officers find drugs

Narcotics officers with the Jacksonville Police Department arrested a parolee Thursday after receiving numerous complaints of narcotics activity at his home, according to a police report.

Using a search waiver that did not require a warrant, officers searched the home of Joseph Cromer, 42, of 816 S. Redmond Road, who was wanted on charges of violating his parole.

Two loaded firearms, a baggie of methamphetamine, baggies of marijuana, multiple pipes and digital scales with residue on them and empty baggies were discovered at the residence, according to the report.

Cromer was charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of firearm by certain persons, maintaining drug premises within 1,000 feet of a drug-free zone, and possession of a schedule two controlled substance.

He is being held without bail at the Pulaski County jail.

Search of woman ends with arrest

A Little Rock woman was arrested on drug charges Friday after she was accused of stealing merchandise from a department store, according to a police report.

Little Rock Police Department officers arrested Sandra Surrett, 33, of 13441 Arch St., about 1:55 p.m. Friday at Sears on South University Avenue.

Surrett was found to be in possession of multiple pill bottles, a pipe, marijuana, methamphetamine, and a scale with baggies during a pat down, according to the report.

She was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of schedule II narcotics with intent to deliver, possession of schedule IV narcotics with intent, possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft of property.

She was taken to Pulaski County jail, and bail was set at $166,000. She was not listed on the jail's inmate roster late Friday.

Search of LR home yields drug arrest

Officers executing a search warrant at a Little Rock home discovered numerous drugs Friday morning, according to a Little Rock police report.

Eric Arett, 47, of 2711 Arch St., was arrested after officers located about 2 grams of marijuana, seven tablets of hydrocodone, eight tablets of MDMA, two tablets of Xanax, and a grinder, police said.

Arett was charged with possession of Xanax with intent to deliver, possession of hydrocodone with intent to deliver, possession of MDMA with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a drug premises, all felonies. He also was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Arrett was taken to the Pulaski County jail, and bail was set at $71,000. He was not listed on the jail's roster late Friday.
