Sheriff: 22-year-old man dies while swimming in river in northern Arkansas

HARDY — Authorities say a Jacksonville man has died while swimming in the Spring River in northern Arkansas.

Sharp County Sheriff Mark Counts says 22-year-old Dylan Stewart was camping with his wife at Riverbend Park on Saturday. Counts says Stewart jumped into the water from an over-hanging tree, then began to struggle and call for help.

Authorities say witnesses performed CPR on Stewart after he was pulled from the water, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
