The Shriners and their Ladies met April 7 at Fred’s Hickory inn for a meeting and meal. The club had three men join the Shrine and one man transfer in from another club.

The topic for the meeting was the relationship between Shriners International and Shriners Hospital. Shriners International is the fraternity that founded Shriners Hospitals for Children in 1922. Today, Shriners International continues to support the unique health care system by raising money, assisting patients’ families with transportation, volunteering on hospital boards and more. It was noted that the Shrine Hospitals for Children focus on four specialized areas of care: orthopedic care, burn care, spinal cord injury and cleft lip and palate care.
