Volleyball: Har-Ber sweeps Rogers High

SPRINGDALE -- Klaire Trainor and Elizabeth Williams delivered for Springdale Har-Ber Tuesday night.

Trainor had a team-high 12 kills and Williams had 36 assists and two key points in the second game as the Lady Wildcats defeated Rogers High 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-12) in a 7A-West Conference volleyball match.

The win was a big one for Har-Ber (13-3-2, 4-2 7A-West) as the Lady Wildcats stayed on track to finish in third-place at the midway point of the first half of the conference schedule. Har-Ber closes out the first half of the season at Springdale High on Thursday.

"We still have a lot to prove, and we still have a lot of things to get better at," said Har-Ber coach Shyrah Schisler. "Overall, we played a lot better in game three, and we started to put things together."

Rogers (6-8-1, 2-4) had a 16-15 lead in the first game and they tied the Lady Wildcats at 22-22 in the second game. But Har-Ber finished the first two games with a bang.

Trainor delivered a kill for a 17-16 lead as the Lady Wildcats finished the first game with a 10-4 run. After the Lady Mounties tied the second game, Elizabeth Williams had a block and kill as Har-Ber used a 3-0 run for a 2-0 lead. The third game was all Har-Ber as they used a 13-1 run to pull out to a 22-9 lead.

"Klaire is a gamer," Schisler said. "She goes out there with a lot of intensity, and we need that from her. Elizabeth is always aggressive on the net. She may be one of the shorter players on our team, but she plays like she is six foot. She is always ready for that challenge."

Lauren Thompson added 10 kills for Har-Ber while Emily Doss had 21 digs.

Samantha Lassiter led Rogers with eight kills while sophomores Hannah Martin and Kassidy Wall had seven kills each. Sophomore Emily Harris had a team-high eight blocks.

"Every time we seemed to get going, we hit into the net or it was some little something that would break our momentum," said Rogers coach Jeana Breedlove. "We were right there the first and second game. The sophomores stepped up and they did a good job for us. That is encouraging and the sophomores, including some on the bench that I can use, are coming on."

Rogers hosts Rogers Heritage Thursday.
