Federal agency: $108M going to Delta region projects

LITTLE ROCK — A federal agency says it's spending $1.3 million on nine projects in Arkansas, part of $108 million in public and private investments it says will help the struggling Mississippi Delta region.

The Delta Regional Authority on Wednesday announced the funding through its Economic Development Assistance Program. The projects include an expansion of the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum in North Little Rock, improvements to the Helena Harbor Rail in Phillips County and renovation of a learning center for the homeless in Little Rock.

Delta Regional Authority officials announced the funding at a news conference with Gov. Asa Hutchinson at the state Capitol. The Delta Regional Authority assists 252 counties in eight states in the Delta region.
