"Mistakes, mistakes," said Rogers coach Shawn Flannigan. "We just did not play well as a team. We are just going to try and keep working and get better."

Rogers (0-2) took a 7-6 lead with 5 minutes, 19 seconds left in the third quarter on a 51-yard touchdown run by Milacio Freeland. But four plays later, Hisey raced 46 yards for a touchdown and a 12-7 Zebras lead.

Hisey added a short touchdown run with just over a minute left in the game. That touchdown was set up by a 45-yard interception return by Hunter Thrasher that set the Zebras up at the Rogers five.

Hisey had a 19-yard touchdown run on Claremore's first possession of the game and the junior then rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns in the second half.

"Keegan possesses a lot of speed and he is a hard runner," said Claremore coach Rob Gilbreath. "Keegan is a great asset to our team. He is a great leader and a great kid. We are looking for more big things out of him this year."

Rogers missed two good scoring opportunities in the first half after mounting impressive drives. The Mounties drove to the Zebras 34 on their first possession but Claremore's Alex Moore blocked a 52-yard field goal attempt by Chris Lopez.

One play after the blocked field goal, Rogers recovered a Claremore (2-0) fumble at the 50 and the Mounties used a 17-yard pass from quarterback Joseph Sultemeier to Grayson Lee to drive inside the Zebras 10. Sultemeier's nine-yard touchdown run was called back on a penalty and three plays later Lopez missed a 20-yard field goal attempt early in the second quarter.

"One block and one miss, that is six points off the board right there," Flannigan said. "We also took points off the board with a penalty on the touchdown."

Rogers finished with 261 yards of offense, including 101 yards passing. Freeland finished with 72 yards on six carries.

Rogers will celebrate Homecoming when Jefferson City, Mo. visits Whitey Smith Stadium Friday.
