The Recruiting Guy

Receiver likes what he sees from Arkansas' offense

Receiver Isaiah Graham said in May that the only thing holding him back from committing to Arkansas was seeing offensive coordinator Dan Enos' offense during the season.

Graham watched on television as quarterback Brandon Allen throw for 308 yards and four touchdowns Saturday in the Razorbacks' 48-13 victory over Texas-El Paso.

"It was great watching that game," said Graham, who plays for Bastrop (La.) High School. "They threw the ball. They threw the ball around a lot. It really made me more comfortable with the offense.

"I'll just keep looking for it each week and see the new changes in the offense, but last week was a great week and made things a little easier with my decision. I feel like it will be a great fit from what I saw on Saturday."

Graham, 6-1, 175 pounds, 4.53 seconds in the 40-yard dash, has approximately 20 scholarship offers from schools that include Arkansas, Miami, TCU, South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Nebraska and California. He said Arkansas is his leader.

He plans to make an official visit to Fayetteville next weekend for the Texas Tech game. If the offensive trend continues in the Toledo and Texas Tech games, Graham said he could commit to the Hogs.

"There's a possibility that I would, but I just want to make sure that I make the right decision," Graham said.

Graham is rated a four-star recruit, the No. 16 receiver and the No. 106 overall prospect in the nation by ESPN after recording 48 receptions for 1,138 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior.

He has plenty of ties to the state. His father, Willie, is from Arkansas and he has two sisters, Stacie and Lacole, and other family members living Little Rock.

Bastrop plays at Shiloh Christian tonight in Springdale.

"A lot of my Arkansas family will be down at my game," Graham said.

Graham also plans to take official visits TCU, South Carolina and Tennessee.

"I'll be looking for different things," said Graham, who recorded best times of 10.65 seconds in the 100 meters and 22.00 seconds in the 200 meters this spring. "Just the vibe of the environment and how would I fit in with that offense."

He spoke Monday with Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema and receivers coach Michael Smith, his lead recruiter with the Razorbacks.

"We were talking about the official visit and the game plan from last week," Graham said. "I talk to them often. We communicate on the phone a lot now."

Bastrop suffered a last-second 57-56 loss to Bossier City Parkway last week. Graham had 6 receptions for 99 yards and 1 touchdown and a 30-yard touchdown run in the game.

Graham and Bielema have talked about his impending college decision.

"He said he knows it's a tough spot," Graham said. "He wants me to make the best decision that's possible for me. He and I have been having talks about the recruiting process and how it's going, and just making sure I don't forget about Arkansas throughout the process."

VISITING MONK

Arkansas and Kentucky had in-home visits with highly recruited basketball prospect Malik Monk on Wednesday.

Monk, 6-4, 190 pounds, has scheduled official visits to Oregon (Sept. 18), Kansas (Oct. 9), Kentucky (Oct. 16) and Arkansas (Oct. 24). The Bentonville guard also plans to officially visit North Carolina or Florida State. The remaining school will receive an unofficial visit.

ESPN rates Monk the No. 1 shooting guard and the No. 5 overall prospect in the nation. Oregon is expected to have an in-home visit today.
