Arkansas Hospice seeking volunteers

Arkansas Hospice's Batesville and Searcy offices need volunteers to help care for patients in Independence and Jackson counties, as well as portions of White, Cleburne, Lonoke and Prairie counties.

Volunteers provide ongoing support in a variety of ways, including personal visits or phone calls, and sitting with patients to give caregivers a rest. Other opportunities include helping with office work and participating in a pet therapy program.

All Arkansas Hospice volunteers must be trained and certified. In addition, individuals must pass a background check and driving record check, and provide evidence of a current driver's license and automobile insurance. A tuberculosis skin test and a flu shot are also required for those dealing directly with patients.

Those seeking more information can email Harriet Hawkins at [email protected] or call (501) 748-3392, or toll-free at (877) 713-2348, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
