A De Queen man was killed and a Dierks man was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Sevier County on Wednesday afternoon, Arkansas State Police reported.
A 2009 Chevrolet pickup and a 1996 Mack truck were headed east on U.S. 71, about 4 miles east of De Queen at 5:32 p.m. when the pickup pulled onto the south shoulder and attempted to make a left turn across two lanes of traffic and was hit by the Mack truck, the report said.
Norley Frank Bickley III, the 65-year-old driver of the pickup, was pronounced dead at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. The driver of the Mack truck, Clifton D. Ward, 70, was injured in the crash and taken to De Queen Medical Center.
At the time of the crash, the weather was clear and roads were dry.
